CONVATEC Aquacel Hydrofiber Dressing is a soft, nonwoven pad or ribbon dressing that features hydrofiber technology and a unique gelling technology exclusive to Convatec. It is a sterile, white, fibrous dressing derived from 100% pure sodium carboxymethylcellulose (NaCMC). Aquacel Hydrofiber Dressing combines the look, feel, and handling properties of gauze and leading alginates. It absorbs and retains exudate and harmful components, such as bacteria contained within the exudate, goes directly into its fibers. It retains more fluid that alginates and almost three times more fluid than gauze when used under compression. Its vertical wicking locks in the Aquacel Dressing, which may reduce the risk of maceration peri-wound skin. Aquacel Dressing is indicated for the management of pressure ulcers, abrasions, lacerations, incisions, donor sites, and second degree burns, and on infected wounds; for use in managing surgical or traumatic wounds that have been left to heal by secondary intention. It can be used on wounds prone to bleeding and to facilitate the control of minor bleeding. In addition, Aquacel Hydrofiber Dressing in its gelled state does not damage tender, granulating, wound tissue or healthy tissue surrounding exudating wounds during dressing changes.
