C.R. BARD INC. Bardex Brand Lubricath Carson Model 20 french 2 way foley catheter with coude tip and 5cc ribbed balloon. This latex lubricious coated catheter provides for smoother insertion and enhanced patient comfort through the hydrogel coating that absorbs fluid, thus creating a hydrophilic cushion between the catheter surface and the urethra. The product allows a non traumatic insertion for enhanced patient comfort and the bard hydrogel coating maintains its integrity throughout the course of use, resulting in less trauma upon removal. The carson model is used to negotiate the male urethra, particularly when a stricture or bph is present. Some urologists find the coude tip useful in negotiating the neck of the bladder in female patients, allowing easier insertion and reduced irritation. Balloon is round and short to provide excellent seating in the bladder to minimize leakage and irritation to the trigone. A medium olive coude tip with a single eye on the primary end with the 5cc balloon which should be inflated using 10ml of sterile water. Please take care not to use ointments or lubricants having a petrolatum base with this catheter as they will damage latex and may cause the balloon to burst.
